przez KS | 9 kwietnia, 2023

Muzeum Podkarpackie w Krośnie – jest to największe muzeum w Krosnie, gromadzące eksponaty związane z historią regionu. Dział Historyczny zawiera m.in. numizmaty i militaria, a Dział Artystyczny prezentuje przepiękny fortepian Pleyel z 1862 roku, manufaktury, od której fortepiany uwielbiał sam Fryderyk Chopin. Muzeum to jest jednym z nielicznych miejsc w Polsce, gdzie zobaczyć można szkło współczesne, użytkowe i artystyczne. Są to oczywiście wyroby krośnieńskich hut szkła. W muzeum także poznasz bliżej historię Krosna i regionu, m.in. dzięki obrazom i fotografiom przedstawiającym dawny wygląd Krosna. Muzeum Podkarpackie to fantastyczna wędrówka poprzez historię, tradycje, kulturę regionu, którą należy odbyć, by lepiej zrozumieć ten zakątek Polski.

The provided context is about the Muzeum Podkarpackie in Krosno, Poland. The museum was established in 1954 as the Regional Museum of PTTK and became a state institution in 1958. Since 1975 it has been named the District Museum, and in 2000 it adopted its current name. The museum is housed in the historic building of the former Episcopal Palace. It has several departments, including the History of Lighting, which houses one of the world’s most valuable collections of oil lamps, and the Gallery of Krosno Art, which showcases the works of local artists from the 19th and 20th centuries. Another department is the Archaeological Open-Air Museum “Karpacka Troja” in Trzcinica near Jasło.

The museum is a great place for visitors to learn about the history and culture of the region. It has several permanent exhibitions, with one of the most popular being the History of Lighting. This exhibition displays an impressive collection of lamps from various European and global manufacturers. The exhibition presents the most popular sources of light in chronological order, from ancient oil lamps to modern electric lamps from the early 20th century. The exhibition is not only a display of beautifully crafted lamps but also an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a bourgeois salon from the turn of the century [2].

Apart from the permanent exhibitions, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions. For instance, from September 27 to November 27, 2022, the museum is hosting a unique temporary exhibition featuring the works of Valerie Franchuk, a renowned Ukrainian painter, graphic artist, and sculptor. Visitors can see a slice of his rich artistic legacy and his paintings [4].

The museum is not the only cultural institution in Krosno. There is also the Private Museum of Podkarpackie Battlefields, which is a private museum that collects, preserves, conserves, catalogues, exhibits, and shares collections related to the Podkarpackie battlefields from the period between 1914 and 1945. The museum has approximately 2,000 exhibits, most of which are owned by the museum’s organizers. The number of exhibits is constantly growing, with some items being donated by individuals [3].

The Private Museum of Podkarpackie Battlefields has several permanent exhibitions, such as “Carpathians 1914-1915”, “School of Aviation Non-commissioned Officers for Minors in Krosno 1938-1939”, “September 1939”, “Independence Conspiracy”, “Dukla 1944”, “Podkarpacie 1945”, “War Tools”, “Aviation during World War II in the Krosno Area”, “Sapper Shovels over the Centuries”, and “So Much Remained.” The exhibits are displayed in the museum building, in the outdoor exhibition on the museum’s grounds, and in the adjacent air-raid shelter from the World War II period that belonged to the extensive infrastructure of the Krosno airport at that time. Visitors can see many original artifacts, such as a plaque from the main gate of the forced labor camp in Szebnie, and learn about the cruelty experienced by its prisoners [3].
